Past Projects
State Route 167 Expansion Project
- Jim Hearsey led wetland delineations for this linear transportation project.
He delineated over 100 wetlands and 20 streams, and characterized wetlands using the WSDOT Functions and Values wetland rating system.
Lake Ballinger Public Fishing Pier Replacement Project
- Jim was the lead biologist on this project that had Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) oversight.
- The project involved dewatering approximately 2,000 square feet of the lake at the old pier,
and performing fish rescue and identification.
Rockaway Beach Road Bank Stabilization and Eelgrass Survey - Bainbridge Island
- Jim was the lead biologist on this project that had WDFW and Suquamish tribal oversight.
- The project involved installing a large gabion wall to support the new replacement road aligment.
Due to potential impacts to eelgrass, Jim designed and performed the initial, baseline eelgrass surveys for future monitoring of potential impacts.
- Jim also wrote the Biological Assesment (BA),
to address any potential impacts to species listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
Guemes Channel Ferry Dolphin Replacemment Project
- Jim wrote the BA to address any potential impacts to species listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
Nisqually State Park Trail Improvement Project
- Jim has recently partnered with EcoAssetts Environmental LLC, to delineate critical areas within the park,
to help the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission decide on new trail alignments.
